Calm Inflamed Acne Fast With A Sulfur Treatment

Inflamed acne is the kind that hurts. Think red, swollen, tender breakouts—sometimes with a whitehead, sometimes just a painful lump under the skin. These blemishes are caused by a combination of clogged pores, excess oil, bacteria, and an inflammatory response.

Common Triggers:

  • Hormonal fluctuations

  • Stress and poor sleep

  • Comedogenic skincare or makeup

  • Picking or over-exfoliating

Inflamed acne is especially common in teens and adult women (thanks, hormones), and it requires a specific kind of care: calming inflammation while gently clearing the pore.

Why I Recommend Face Reality Sulfur Spot Treatment

When a client texts me about a painful pimple that’s popped up before a big event, this is the product I tell them to reach for. It's quick, reliable, and less irritating than traditional spot treatments.

1. Sulfur: The Star Ingredient

At 6%, sulfur is the main acne-fighting agent here. Sulfur reduces inflammation, dries up excess oil, and helps exfoliate the inside of the pore without over-stripping.

  • Unclogs pores

  • Reduces redness and swelling

  • Antibacterial action without harshness

2. Bisabolol + Allantoin: Calm + Soothe

These calming agents help reduce the redness and irritation that often come with inflamed acne. They make the formula more comfortable to wear—even on sensitive skin.

  • Soothes inflamed areas

  • Supports skin recovery

  • Helps prevent post-breakout dark marks

3. Peptide Support for Healing

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-8 is a skin-soothing peptide that helps minimize the stress response in the skin and promotes faster repair.

  • Reduces irritation

  • Speeds up recovery time

  • Helps maintain barrier strength

Laziza’s Pro Tips for Using Sulfur Spot Treatment

Here’s how I walk my clients through using this at home:

  • Use it as the last step in your evening routine (right before bed)

  • Only apply to active, inflamed spots—no need to spread it all over

  • Start with 1x per day, then increase to 2x/day if needed

  • Always wear SPF in the morning (acne can lead to pigmentation!)

Avoid layering with other strong actives like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in the same area to prevent over-irritation.

Other Ways to Calm Inflamed Acne Without Products

In the clinic, we also talk a lot about lifestyle support:

  • Ice the area for 1–2 minutes at a time to reduce swelling

  • Avoid picking—this creates deeper inflammation and scars

  • Manage stress through sleep, movement, and breathwork

  • Stick to a routine—consistency calms chaos (your skin agrees)

When You’ll See Results

Most clients notice the spot has flattened and is less red within 24–48 hours. Deeper cysts may take a few days longer but are much less painful when sulfur is applied consistently.

This is one of my favorite spot treatments because it doesn’t over-dry or create that flaky ring around the pimple. Clients love that they can still wear makeup over it the next day without peeling.
